Elliott Owen Lipinsky

Elliott Owen Lipinsky is an Alabama trial attorney based in Selma. A former prosecutor, he represents clients in criminal defense, personal injury, and wrongful death matters throughout Dallas County and West Alabama's Black Belt, as well as Montgomery and the River Region.

Admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 2013 and to the United States District Court for the Middle District of Alabama, Elliott brings experience from both sides of the courtroom to every case.

Elliott began his legal career as a prosecutor in Selma. That work gave him firsthand experience with how cases are investigated, charged, negotiated, and tried. He later returned to private practice and now represents people facing criminal charges and families dealing with serious injuries and wrongful death.

His approach is practical and direct: listen carefully, identify the legal and factual issues, explain the available options in plain language, and prepare each matter on its own facts. Former prosecutorial experience informs his perspective, but no prior experience predicts the outcome of a future case.

Community Involvement and Professional Service

A native of Montgomery and a graduate of the University of Alabama, Elliott Owen Lipinsky believes the practice of law carries a responsibility to serve the broader community. His civic, professional, educational, and cultural involvement has included:

• Access to justice: Volunteering through the Montgomery Volunteer Lawyers Program to provide legal guidance and accept pro bono referrals for people with limited incomes.

• Bar leadership: Serving on the Executive Board of the Montgomery County Bar Association's Young Lawyers Section, including service as secretary and treasurer.

• Public service: Serving as the governor's consumer representative on the Alabama Department of Public Health's Healthcare Data Advisory Council.

• Community outreach: Taking part in service projects benefiting Mercy House, Montgomery public-school students, the Mid-Alabama Coalition for the Homeless, Child Protect, and Dream Court programs for people with special needs.

• Veterans and youth: Participating in a veterans legal clinic and helping introduce middle-school honor students to the courtroom while serving as a prosecutor in Tuscaloosa.

• Arts and culture: Supporting the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts as a member and contributor, including service on its Junior Executive Board.

• Legal education and professional service: Serving as a member of the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and teaching a law school course on criminal procedure.

• Civic and heritage organizations: Involvement with the Keystone Club, the Florida Pioneer Association, and the Sons of the American Revolution.

• Honors and recognition: Recognition as an honorary Alabama Colonel, receipt of the Keystone Club's Silver Paw distinction, and receipt of a key to the City of San Diego.

• Community governance: Former service on the Montgomery Zoo Board.

• Author: Writing Space Pup: The Adventures of Elrod Cannon, an illustrated children's book published in 2020.
